sv2sds ________
This program was created to convert SampleVision's
files to SDS (Sample Dump Standard). The program asks you for
the name of the SampleVision file, then displays all the
information about that file. This includes the number of
samples, the sampling frequency, the maximum and minimum values
of the samples, dynamics ( Max - Min) and effective resolution
(how many bits were actually used in these samples). In
SampleVision file you can store up to 8 loop parameters, so all
active loops are displayed.
After displaying this info the program asks for name of the
result file and some additional information. Sample number and
channel number are necessary for SDS header. You can change the
sampling frequency and samples will be recalculated using linear
interpolation. You can reduce the samples resolution from the
original 16-bit SV resolution and save a little on SDS file
length. Remember: 8 - 14 bits samples take 2 bytes in SDS, 15 -
21 bits samples take 3 bytes. So if you want to reduce the
sample transfer time and memory requirements by 33% - think hard
about reducing the resolution. Another option - you can scale
samples to cover all dynamic range from 0 to MAXNUMBER.
Some final words.
I wrote this program in order to load SV samples in my
Peavey DPM-3se which can support SDS files only. I spent whole
week sitting at computer, writing, compiling and debugging the
code during my work-off time home. Angry wife, hungry kids and
so on (you know what I mean when kids mess around the computer:
"Daddy, Daddy, get off the computer, I wanna play
Tetris/Shmetris, Space Quest, King's Quest,....").
I strongly believe that all virtues and sacrifices must be
rewarded, so if you find this program useful and author very
good guy (as I really am), please send the contribution of $5.00
to the:
Oleg A. Sherbakov

Maybe if I get enough money from your donations I will quit
my job and start my own Software Company - and beware then!
If you like the program but don't like to send the money,
you can encourage me by sending E-mail to:
